Community Commitment Bedfordshire

At our practice, dentistry is about more than caring for smiles — it’s about caring for our community.

We are proud to support KidsOut, a charity dedicated to helping vulnerable and disadvantaged children across the UK, particularly those living in refuges after fleeing domestic abuse. Through initiatives like the KidsOut Giving Tree, we help provide Christmas gifts to children who might otherwise go without, ensuring they feel valued, remembered and cared for during difficult times.

Supporting The Daisy Charity

In 2023, we were proud to partner with The Daisy Charity, founded by Suzie, a former dental nurse who bravely turned her own experience of domestic abuse into a mission to support other women in crisis.

The Daisy Charity provides practical guidance, emotional support, and essential hygiene products to women facing extremely difficult circumstances. Their work makes a meaningful difference to those who may feel isolated, vulnerable, or unsure where to turn.

As part of our ongoing commitment to community care, we regularly support the charity through fundraising, donations, and by assisting with the sourcing and ordering of supplies for their events. We believe access to dignity, safety, and support should be available to everyone, and we are honoured to contribute to this important work.

The “Ask for Daisy” Initiative

In the same year, we pioneered the “Ask for Daisy” safe space scheme within our practice.

This initiative provides a discreet and safe way for women experiencing domestic abuse to seek help. If someone contacts or attends the practice and asks to book an appointment with “Daisy,” our trained team immediately recognises this as a request for support.

The individual is then sensitively escorted to a private room, where they are given access to signposting information and a list of trusted local support organisations. Our priority is to ensure they feel safe, listened to, and supported in a confidential and non-judgmental environment.

All members of our team are trained to respond appropriately and compassionately, understanding the importance of discretion, safeguarding, and respect.

February 2024

Community Walk For Preen Foodbank

In February 2024, we organised a local charity walk around Biggleswade in support of PREEN Foodbank. Our aim was to strengthen community support and do more for individuals and families facing financial hardship during challenging times.

The walk brought together our team, patients, and members of the wider community, all united by a shared desire to make a practical difference. Alongside the event, we set up an in-house collection point where generous donations of food and monetary contributions were gathered for the foodbank.

The response was incredibly encouraging and reflected the kindness within our local community. We continue to act as a central collection point for ongoing donations, ensuring that support for PREEN remains accessible and consistent throughout the year.

It was a meaningful reminder that small collective actions can create a significant impact for those who need it most.

Since 2024

Proudly Supported the KidsOut Giving Tree

Since 2024, our practice has proudly supported the KidsOut Giving Tree, providing gifts to vulnerable and disadvantaged children across the UK, many of whom are living in refuges after fleeing domestic abuse.

A meaningful alternative to Secret Santa, instead of buying gifts for one another, we take part in the Giving Tree to ensure children in need have something special to open on Christmas morning.

Each tag represents a real child, helping them feel valued and cared for during what can be one of the most vulnerable times in their lives. These gifts do more than bring joy on Christmas morning, they also support families who are often having to rebuild their lives from scratch, offering comfort, dignity and a sense of hope during an incredibly difficult period.

We are immensely proud that Biggleswade Dental Centre is a registered collection point, welcoming a growing number of donated toys each year thanks to the generosity of our local community. Together, we are committed to helping surpass the remarkable previous total of 51,070 new toys collected.

We intend to support the Giving Tree every Christmas, so please look out for ways to get involved with us each festive season.

October 2024

Breast Cancer Now’s Wear It Pink campaign

In October 2024, our team proudly took part in Breast Cancer Now’s Wear It Pink campaign, dedicating the week to raising awareness and funds for this vital cause. The practice was filled with colour as our team wore pink throughout the week – including pink PPE, and many of our fantastic patients joined in the spirit of the campaign.

Thanks to the generosity and support of our community, we raised over £60 to contribute towards life-saving research and support services for those affected by breast cancer. We’re always grateful for the opportunity to come together for meaningful causes and make a positive difference beyond dentistry.

The Appreciation

Taking part in our charity challenge was an unforgettable experience, but the most meaningful reward was the heartfelt appreciation we received from the kids. Seeing their smiles, hearing their laughter, and watching their excitement reminded us why we chose to support this cause in the first place. Their handmade thank-you cards, warm hugs, and kind words made every bit of effort worthwhile. It wasn’t just about raising funds—it was about creating hope, spreading positivity, and showing them that people truly care. The gratitude they expressed touched our hearts deeply and motivated us to continue giving back to the community.

March 2025

International Women’s Day Art Trail

In March 2025, we joined fellow local businesses to celebrate International Women’s Day by supporting Biggleswade’s first community art trail. The event was held in collaboration with Refuge, helping to raise vital funds and awareness for women and children affected by domestic violence.

The trail provided a platform for talented local female artists to showcase their work, celebrating themes of strength, resilience and empowerment. We were especially pleased to collaborate with local artist Sally Quorn (Squorn), whose powerful and expressive pieces captured the spirit and purpose of the day.

Residents spent the day exploring participating businesses, viewing artwork, starting important conversations, and contributing towards the £1,000+ fundraising goal. It was inspiring to see the community come together with such positivity and support.

We were delighted to be involved in an initiative that brought creativity and community together, while helping raise awareness and support for such an important cause.

September 2025

KidsOut Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge

In September 2025, our team took on the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge in aid of KidsOut.

The challenge involves climbing Pen-y-Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough; 24 miles of rugged terrain with over 5,000 feet of ascent, all within 12 hours. It is as gruelling as it sounds. Endless inclines, aching legs, unpredictable weather and the mental determination required to keep going when your body is ready to stop. It’s safe to say… we won’t be rushing back to tackle this one any time soon!!

But every step had purpose.

We were proud to raise over £1,000 for KidsOut, a charity that supports vulnerable and disadvantaged children across the UK. The funds help provide essential items for children and families rebuilding their lives from scratch, as well as fun days out and positive experiences throughout the year, giving children moments of normality, joy and hope during incredibly difficult times.

Taking on such a physically demanding challenge reminded us that while sore muscles fade, the real struggles many families face are far greater and far more enduring. If our temporary discomfort could help make even a small difference to a child’s life, then every blister and every steep climb was worth it.

Thank you to everyone who supported and sponsored us, your generosity truly helps change lives.
